Free Harry Potter Printables and Decorations

For my son’s Harry Potter Birthday party I got most of my free Harry Potter printables and decorations ideas from other sites. I am so grateful for the hard work of others! But I took some extra time to make a few of them and thought I would provide you with all the printables here!

Harry Potter Birthday Banner Printable

I designed this banner to be printed out on 8.5×11 sized paper.

Harry Potter Golden Snitch

I bought this snitch as a decoration/birthday gift. It was so insanely cheap that my hopes weren’t really high, but I was surprised by how nice it looked and how well it has held up. It was perfect for the party and my son has had fun with it since.

Printable of Hogwarts Express Platform 9 3/4 Sign

I also made a Hogwarts Express Platform sign! I tried to make it like the one in the movie, but to fit a 8.5 x 11 piece of paper.

More Harry Potter Decoration Ideas

Moaning Myrtle
This was a fun little surprise in the bathroom! I made the Moaning Myrtle by having a photo of her copied on to a transparency to make her look more ghostly. I then cut her out and taped her to the toilet.

Harry Potter Potion Bottles
One of my favorite things were these potion bottles! I got the labels over at lovely overthebigmoon.com.

I started out by first just adding food coloring to some water to make the potions, but it looked really cheesy. So I started to add condiments and other kinds of food instead!

I did this one by adding cinnamon.

snape-potions
This was one of my faves, I used ketchup and then didn’t stir it around.

Dementor Decorations
I found these two lovelies at the Dollar Store! For the first time I was glad that holiday decorations were starting to come out over two months early. They are perfect!

Hagrid’s Birthday Cake
This year I totally lucked out on the cake. It usually takes me a few hours the day before the party to make my kids’ cakes, but since B– wanted a cake like the one Hagrid made Harry it was crazy easy. I just did a three-layered chocolate cake and frosted it with pink frosting that was tinted with a little cocoa powder to make it look more like the color that was used in the movie. I then wrote on top with green frosting. Since my handwriting is already terrible and when I write with frosting it is even worse, it turned out perfect!

I used this one at http://images4.fanpop.com/image/polls/750000/750615_1308477918833_full.jpg and made it black and white before I printed it out to make her look more ghostly. Once it is printed out on the transparency, I cut the background out and taped her to the toilet. She was one of my favorite decorations at the party and super easy to do!

I saw that you made report cards for the party. I love this as a way to track what they’d done. Do you provide that template anywhere? I didn’t see it and would love to borrow that idea. Thanks!

    • Angie says:

It is not really a template, I just put “Report Card” up at the top and listed the classes underneath it. My helpers then wrote the grade next to it. I used the Harry Potter on dafont.com. It was a last minute idea, so it was super basic.

Thank you for all the wonderful ideas! The Myrtle idea is too funny!
