Mint Grinch Italian Soda
If the Grinch were an Italian soda, what would he taste like? And I am talking about the Grinch after his heart grew two sizes, not when he was like a bad banana with a greasy black peel. Yuck. I figured since it was winter, a Grinch Italian Soda ought to be cool, minty, and creamy.
This Italian soda recipe is a big hit at our family Christmas parties because not only does it look fancy, but it tastes yummy. And what kid isn’t going to love sprinkles!?! There is even a cherry in there for the Grinch’s heart.
When making this for kids, I like to use spray whipped cream. They like the extra sweetness and it looks really neat. But if you want a more traditional Italian soda, you can use half & half instead.
Grinch Italian Soda Recipe
- 4 squirts or 2 tbsp Torani Vanilla Bean Syrup
- Small drop of mint flavoring
- Small drop of green food coloring
- 1 cup (8oz) club soda or sparkling water
- 1/2 cup ice
- Spray-on Whipped Topping
- Red Sprinkles
- One maraschino cherry
Pour ice, sparkling water, syrup, food coloring, and mint flavoring into a glass and stir. Drop in the cherry, and then top with whipped topping and sprinkles. And don’t forget the cool straw!
I have wonderful memories of my kids snuggled up together to read “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” We have read it so much that they have it almost memorized. Books are a huge part of our Christmas tradition. I keep all our Christmas books in a separate box and only pull them out for the holidays. My little Ladybug gets so excited and disappears on the couch as she makes her way through them. Another family favorite is “The Legend of Old Befana” with illustrations by Tomie dePaola. It is based on an old Italian Christmas story.
If you are a big Grinch fan, you’ll also like this Grinch vinyl decal and cup. It is a fun present for book lovers.
