Ward Father’s Day Gift Idea
Looking for something to hand out at church for all the dads? Would you prefer it to be a little meaningful? Then this ward Father’s Day gift idea is perfect!
My kids love it when they hand out candy bars at church for Father’s Day because they know that their dad will share a little with them. Is that fair to their dad? Nope. But he shares anyway. He is a keeper. But instead of just handing out candy bars, this Father’s Day printable allows you to add a little more meaning to the gift.
The printable highlights a quote from President Gordon B. Hinckley about the incredibly important role dads play. We paired the two printables with a See’s candy bar because I can’t resist a pun. You could also pair them with the See’s lollipops. Or you could just ditch the See’s printable and attach the quote to something else.
The quote is from President Hinckley’s talk, “Great Shall Be the Peace of Thy Children.”
“May He bless you with wisdom and judgment, with understanding, with self-discipline and self-control, with faith and kindness and love. And may He bless the sons and daughters who have come into your homes, that yours may be a fortifying, strengthening, guiding hand as they walk the treacherous path of life. As the years pass—and they will pass ever so quickly—may you know that “peace … which passeth all understanding” (Philip. 4:7) as you look upon your sons and daughters, who likewise have known that sacred and wonderful peace.”

What is it about dads that makes us feel so safe? I still call my dad all the time with questions about what to do or how to fix something. I trust his advice more than almost anybody else. And if there is ever a zombie apocalypse, I want him on my team! But more than that, I have realized as I have gotten older that his example taught me about my Heavenly Father’s love for me. It has been easier to develop a relationship with my Heavenly Father because my own father showed me that fathers could be trusted and relied upon. What an amazing role fathers play! They help set the pattern for their children’s relationship with God.
