Candy Ball Donut Hole Party Game

Candy Ball Donut Hole Party GameWhen you think of donut party games, the first one that comes to mind is donut on a string. But I wanted to do something a little different for our Dunk and Donuts Pool Party. We love making candy tape balls at our house, so I thought a Candy Ball Donut Hole Party Game would be perfect! If you cover a candy ball with crepe paper, it looks a lot like a donut hole! If you haven’t ever played this game before, it is a lot of fun. The competition can get fierce!

Step One: First you will need to make a candy ball. You will need a bunch of candy, packing tape, and plastic wrap. It is a good idea to pick candy that will lay flat and not lose its wrapper easily. I tried it once with bite-sized candy bars and they just got smushed.

Step Two: Pick one of the larger and more round pieces of candy and start to wrap it in plastic wrap. Then add another piece of candy and wrap some more. After two to three pieces of candy, wrap some packing tape around the ball once. This makes it so that you can’t just unravel the ball all at once. When adding more candy, try to position it so that you maintain a round, ball shape. If you make sure there is a layer of plastic wrap between candy and packing tape, it also makes it so that the wrappers don’t stick to the tape and come off while playing the game.

Keep adding layers of candy, plastic wrap, and packing tape until you run out of candy. You can vary how hard it is to unwrap by how much packing tape you add.

Step 3: Once you have your ball, it is time to turn it into a donut hole. Start to wrap the candy ball up in crepe paper until it is totally concealed. It will help keep the streamer in place if you use a little tape at the beginning. Later, the tape will get covered up as you wrap.

Step 4: Once you are done, it will look like a mummy ball! I held the end of the crepe paper in place with a little dab of glue.

Step 5: Now it is time for the sprinkles. I cut rectangles out of different colored construction paper and then glued them onto the ball randomly. Once the glue dried, you won’t be able to see it.

Now it is time to play! With everyone sitting on the floor in a circle, have each person roll the dice once.  The person who rolls the highest number goes first. The first person starts out with the ball and will try to remove as much candy as she can by tearing away layers of crepe paper, plastic wrap, and packing tape. She can’t use scissors, teeth or other tools. Just her hands. The crepe paper won’t last long, but it sure makes the ball look cool!

While the first person is manically tearing away, the next person in the circle starts to roll the two dice trying to get double. I like using a pie pan to roll the dice in to so that they don’t go flying everywhere. Once the next person gets doubles, the ball is passed to her and the next person in the circle starts to roll. The ball and dice keep going around the circle until all the candy is gone.
